Agbeladun Agricultural Empowerment, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has partnered with the Agricultural Development Project (ADP) and FADAMA to boost food security in the state.

Mr Franklin Fadoju, Group President of Agbeladun Agricultural Empowerment, who led the members to the ADP Program Manager and FADAMA offices in Akure, disclosed the partnership.

He said the collaboration was to have a good yield throughout the production year.

“We are happy for this engagement and appreciated the past collaborations, the support they have given our NGO, and the renewal of our relationship.

“I strongly believe that with this collaboration, particularly with ADP and FADAMA, the outcome of our products will be fruitful,” he said.

Also, Mrs Arogundade Justina, ADP State Program Manager, said the partnership was to give farmers technical assistance and support to increase their yields for good livelihood.

Arogundade, therefore, called on Nigerians to see farming as a business where they could earn their daily bread, “because without food, nobody can survive and no farmer, no nation”.

“Farmers, especially our youths, should not be discouraged. They need to go to the farm because without food we can not survive. No farmer no nation.

“My advice is not only for the group or farmers but to everyone. Whatever your profession is, you need to farm. It could be a backyard farm, poultry farm or anything in your compound.

“The situation in the country calls for everybody to go into farming activities even if it is only vegetable, please plant it in your backyard,” she said.

Similarly, Mr Olusiji Olatunji, Permanent Secretary in charge of FADAMA in the state, commended the NGO for the efforts in agricultural sector, and advised them to engage in cooperative societies for the betterment of the group.

Olatunji said the farmers organisation should remain credible, and have integriy and transparency in their dealings.

“You don’t need to wait for the grant all the time, make use of social media and create market for your farm products.

“Also use your platform to enlighten and educate your members on agricultural practices, especially modern techniques,” he said.
