President Bola Tinubu has arrived back in Nigeria following the completion of his two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.

The President, who travelled alongside the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, touched down on Friday and was welcomed by senior government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Footage posted on X by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, captured the aircraft’s arrival and the reception at the airport.

Dare, in a brief remark accompanying the video, expressed enthusiasm over the President’s return, describing the trip as successful.

Tinubu’s visit, which took place from March 18 to 19, 2026, is regarded as the first formal state visit by a Nigerian leader to the UK in nearly four decades, the last being in 1989.

The President had earlier departed Abuja and landed at London Stansted Airport on Tuesday to commence the official engagements.

During the visit, Tinubu and his wife were received by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, where a ceremonial welcome featuring a guard of honour and carriage procession was held.

They also attended a state banquet hosted in their honour, where Tinubu reflected on the support he received from the UK during Nigeria’s military era, while reaffirming the long-standing ties between both countries.

In his remarks, King Charles III highlighted the relationship between Nigeria and the UK as one rooted in mutual respect, noting strong cultural and economic connections.

The visit also featured high-level bilateral talks between Tinubu and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, with discussions centred on enhancing cooperation.

Among the outcomes was the signing of a £746 million financing agreement involving UK Export Finance, the Nigerian Ports Authority, and the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Both nations also sealed an agreement aimed at facilitating the repatriation of failed asylum seekers, visa overstayers, and convicted Nigerian nationals, as part of efforts to strengthen migration management and bilateral relations.
