The Nigerian media industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular sports broadcast journalist, Temisan Okomi.
Okomi, who was widely known for his work with Classic FM 97.3, reportedly passed away on Friday, sparking an outpouring of grief from colleagues and fans across social media.
A journalist with News Central, Olawale Adigun, confirmed the development in a post shared on X, describing the loss as devastating.
“The worst way to go into the weekend is hearing about Temisan Okomi’s passing. I’m so gutted and, at the same time, terrified. This man meant so much to me,” he wrote.
The news of Okomi’s death quickly gained traction online, with many in the media and sports community expressing shock over the sudden loss of the broadcaster, who was regarded as a vibrant voice in sports journalism.
Before his death, Okomi had built a notable career in the Nigerian media space, working with organisations such as Lagos Television and HiTV, among others.
His last activity on X was recorded on April 14, 2026, when he made a post reflecting on European football, writing, “The Champions League is hard, man.”
