The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the death of three persons during a late-night party at a hotel in Ikere-Ekiti.
The incident occurred shortly after a convocation ceremony held by Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology.
Police spokesperson, Abutu Sunday, said the tragedy happened around 1am on Sunday.
He disclosed that the victims included two students and a hotel staff member.
According to him, the gathering turned chaotic after a disagreement between two students escalated into a fight.
The situation reportedly triggered panic, as attendees rushed out of the venue, leading to a stampede.
Police said the three victims lost their lives in the process, while their remains have been deposited in the morgue for autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, has ordered a full investigation and urged calm among residents.
