Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has urged aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress to stay loyal to the party, regardless of the outcome of the 2027 primary elections.
He gave the advice on Sunday while speaking at the APC South Senatorial District stakeholders’ meeting held in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, amid growing activities ahead of the party’s primaries.
According to his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Allen Sowore, the governor called on aspirants contesting various positions to demonstrate maturity and prioritise party unity over personal ambitions.
Aiyedatiwa noted that while individuals have the right to pursue political offices, the party’s main objective remains securing victory in the 2027 general elections, including the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
He warned against actions capable of destabilising the party, stressing that only one candidate can emerge from each contest and others must be willing to support the process.
“I urge all aspirants to remain within the party whether they succeed or not. Political progress takes time, and everyone will have their opportunity,” he said.
The governor also recounted his past political experiences, explaining that he had faced setbacks in earlier contests but chose to remain committed to the APC.
According to him, his perseverance eventually led to his emergence as governor, a development he said should encourage others to remain patient and focused.
Also speaking, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, praised the governor’s leadership and urged party members to continue supporting the administration’s programmes.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi and other party leaders, who emphasised the importance of unity as the 2027 elections draw closer.
