The Senate on Thursday confirmed Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, fast-tracking his approval shortly after his screening at plenary.
Darma’s confirmation followed his nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday to join the Federal Executive Council, replacing former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, had earlier read the President’s request on the floor of the chamber and referred the nominee to the Committee of the Whole for expedited consideration.
Following his screening, lawmakers moved swiftly to confirm Darma, signalling the Senate’s backing of the President’s cabinet reshuffle.
Darma, a former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, is expected to bring his experience in the oil and gas sector into his new role.
His confirmation comes amid ongoing efforts by the administration to reposition key ministries and strengthen governance.
