A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State, has ordered the remand of one Sulaima Abdullahi over alleged unlawful entry into a church premises with intent to commit a felony.

The defendant was arraigned by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, on a two-count charge bordering on unlawful entry.

Prosecuting counsel, O.F. Baba, informed the court that the incident occurred on March 13, 2026, at about 5:30pm at the YGGM Church, located at Oke Padre, Oke Aruwa, in Ondo West Local Government Area.

Baba alleged that Abdullahi unlawfully gained access to the church in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace or generate reasonable fear of such disturbance.

He added that the offences contravene Sections 410 and 415 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Defence counsel, D.S. Ominidougha, urged the court to admit his client to bail on liberal terms, assuring that he would not jump bail and would provide credible sureties.

In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The court directed that the sureties must depose to affidavits of means, submit two passport photographs each, and present evidence of gainful employment to be attached to the bail bond. It also ordered verification of their addresses by court officials.

However, Abdullahi was unable to fulfil the bail conditions and was subsequently remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre.

The case was adjourned until June 10, 2026, for hearing.
