32-year-old UK-based Nigerian found dead at workplace

A 37-year-old Nigerian resident in the United Kingdom, Ademola Oke, has been found dead at his workplace, marking the third reported death of a Nigerian in the country this April.

The late Oke was said to have been discovered unresponsive on April 18, prompting an outpouring of grief and a public appeal for financial support for his bereaved family.

Details of the incident emerged through a fundraising campaign initiated by a family friend, Adejonwo Odutola, on GoFundMe.

According to Odutola, the deceased had left home that morning in good health and maintained regular communication with his wife throughout the day, showing no signs of illness.

He explained that Oke was later found lifeless by a colleague who arrived for a night shift at the residence where he worked.

“On April 18, 2026, Ademola, aged 37, left home hale and hearty with no indication of illness. He was in touch with his wife during the day, including a message sent around 2:08 p.m. Everything appeared normal,” Odutola stated.

“However, later that day, he was found unresponsive, seated on a sofa, by a colleague who had resumed for a night shift,” he added.

Emergency responders were reportedly contacted immediately, but Oke was confirmed dead at the scene.

His sudden death has left his 31-year-old wife devastated and solely responsible for their two young children, aged six and two.

Describing the deceased as a devoted husband and caring father, Odutola said the loss has deeply shaken the family and those close to them.

He noted that the fundraising initiative was launched to assist with funeral arrangements and provide financial support for the children as the family grapples with the tragedy.

“This cause is deeply personal to me because I have witnessed the love within this family and the profound impact of this loss. No family should face such heartbreak alongside financial strain,” he said.

He added that funds raised would go towards burial expenses and ongoing care for the children.

The appeal also encouraged members of the public who are unable to donate to support by sharing the campaign and keeping the family in their thoughts.

As of the time of filing this report, £4,509 had been raised out of the £8,000 target.

The incident adds to a growing list of recent deaths involving Nigerians in the UK.

Earlier reports indicated that a Nigerian mother of three died of cancer, while another Nigerian man, identified simply as Herbert, was found dead in his apartment in what relatives described as a sudden and shocking development.
