Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered N8 million paid as ransom in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh.

According to the statement, the operation was executed on April 25, 2026, by troops operating in Sector 9, Shendam, following a coordinated intelligence-led mission.

The victim was abducted on April 19 from the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area before being taken to a hideout in Padam Forest.

Oteh disclosed that the breakthrough was achieved through sustained intelligence gathering and the interrogation of a suspect who confessed to involvement in the crime.

“Troops were able to trace the location of the victim to Padam Forest, where she was successfully rescued,” he said.

He added that the sum of N8 million, earlier paid by the victim’s family as ransom, was also recovered during the operation.

“The recovered money has been handed back to the family, while the victim has received medical attention and reunited with her relatives,” Oteh stated.

The task force said troops have intensified operations in the area to track down other members of the kidnapping syndicate, urging residents to continue providing credible information to support security efforts.
