The United States Department of State has announced plans to roll out a limited-edition passport bearing the image of President Donald Trump as part of activities marking the country’s 250th independence anniversary.
According to reports by Fox News, the redesigned passport is a commemorative issue tied to the ‘America250’ celebrations.
Preview images shared via the White House’s official X account show the president’s portrait on the inside cover, alongside excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, the American flag, and Trump’s signature embossed in gold.
Another page of the booklet features a well-known painting depicting the founding fathers at the signing of the historic document.
The special passports are expected to be released in the summer, coinciding with a series of anniversary events planned across the country.
Among the scheduled activities are a Grand Prix race at the National Mall in August and a mixed martial arts event by Ultimate Fighting Championship on the White House South Lawn in June.
A spokesperson for the State Department, Tommy Pigott, said the commemorative booklets would feature enhanced artwork and customised imagery while retaining the standard security features of regular US passports.
He added that the cover design has been modified, with “United States of America” prominently displayed above the national crest, while the back cover will carry the American flag with the number “250” positioned between the 13 stars from the 1777 flag design.
A State Department official disclosed that the passports would be available to US citizens applying during the rollout period, subject to availability, and will be issued exclusively through the Washington Passport Agency.
The launch is expected to align with the anniversary celebrations in July, as preparations intensify nationwide, including a planned fireworks display at Mount Rushmore.
While commemorative items such as coins and national park passes are common in the US, passports remain a globally recognised form of identification, typically valid for up to 10 years.
