The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the mob killing of two men in Bunga Hamlet, Dagu Ward of Warji Local Government Area of the state.

The command disclosed that the incident occurred on May 7, 2026, following a distress call reporting a violent mob attack in the community.

The victims, identified as Kabiru Idris, 30, and Ibrahim Samaila Danliti, 40, both from Gabanga Village in Warji LGA, were reportedly attacked while riding on a motorcycle.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, said the victims were allegedly chased by a group from Ningi Local Government Area shouting “thieves” before they were intercepted and brutally assaulted.

According to the police, the two men were beaten unconscious by the mob at Bunga Hamlet before operatives arrived at the scene.

The victims were subsequently rushed to the General Hospital in Warji, where a medical doctor later confirmed them dead.

The police said detectives, acting on intelligence, arrested three suspects identified as Samaila Turawa, Danbaba Haruna and Ubale Mai Kaji for their alleged involvement in the attack.

The command added that the suspects were currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi and were assisting investigators.

It also stated that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the mob linked to the killings.

Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, described the act as barbaric and ordered a thorough investigation into the matter.

He warned residents against taking the law into their hands, stressing that no individual or group had the right to unlawfully end another person’s life.

The command further disclosed that calm had been restored in the area, while security patrols and community engagement initiatives had been intensified to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

Police authorities assured residents that all those connected to the unlawful act would be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
