Wike’s aide taunts Fubara, revives old video after Gov withdrew from APC primary

The media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Mr Lere Olayinka, has mocked Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, following the governor’s withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress governorship primary.

Olayinka also resurfaced an old video clip allegedly showing Fubara making disparaging remarks about the former Rivers State governor during the peak of their political disagreement.

Fubara had on Wednesday night announced his decision to withdraw from the APC governorship primary, insisting that the move was not borne out of fear, weakness or surrender, but taken in the interest of peace and stability in Rivers State.

Reacting through a series of posts on his Facebook page, Olayinka claimed that the governor had become politically isolated, alleging that none of the candidates contesting for the Senate, House of Representatives or State House of Assembly seats was aligned with him.

He further alleged that no local government chairman or councillor in the state currently supports the governor, suggesting that Wike still controls the political structure in Rivers State.

“Totally and completely isolated politically. Yet, he is still saying he didn’t step aside out of weakness, fear or surrender,” Olayinka wrote.

The FCT minister’s aide also shared an old video clip in which Fubara was seen comparing Wike’s verbal attacks to the barking of a dog, a comment that had generated controversy during the height of the rift between the two political figures.

The latest development further highlights the deepening political tension in Rivers State, where the battle for control of the state’s political structure has continued to divide loyalists of both leaders.
