A Chief Magistrate Court in Yola, Adamawa State, has ordered the remand of two teenagers for allegedly stealing a power generator belonging to a mosque.
The court also remanded a scrap dealer, identified as Auwalu Bashir, for allegedly receiving the stolen item.
The teenagers, Saidu Alhassan, 14, and Mamman, 13, both residents of the PZ Roundabout area of Jimeta in Yola North Local Government Area, were directed to be held in a juvenile remand facility pending further proceedings.
The trio were arraigned by the police on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Paul, told the court that the case was reported at the Jambutu Police Station by a resident of the area, Murtala Isa, on June 13, 2026.
According to the prosecutor, investigations conducted by the police linked the defendants to the alleged theft of a Perso power generator valued at N600,000.
He alleged that the two minors stole the generator at different times and subsequently sold it to the third defendant, a scavenger, for N50,000 each.
Following the arraignment, the court ordered the remand of the two teenagers in a juvenile correctional facility, while Bashir was remanded in prison custody pending the continuation of the case.
