A woman rescued from kidnappers in Ogun State has narrated the traumatic moments she was shot and watched members of her family being abducted during an attack along the Ogbere Forest axis.
The victim, who is currently receiving medical treatment for gunshot injuries, said the assailants intercepted her vehicle, ordered her to step out, and opened fire when she refused.
Recounting the incident after her rescue, she said the attackers blocked the road and threatened to kill her if she did not comply with their orders.
According to her, “As we approached the middle of the road, I noticed a young man who had parked there.
He told me to come out of the vehicle or he would shoot me. I refused to step out, and he immediately shot me.”
She added that the armed men did not stop at shooting her but also forcefully whisked away some of her relatives.
“He grabbed my daughter after shooting me. He later returned and took my sister and me,” she said.
The woman was among five kidnap victims rescued during a joint security operation conducted by the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands under Operation KOSAYE.
Police authorities disclosed that the victims regained their freedom within 25 hours of the operation, adding that the injured woman was promptly taken for medical attention.
The police also assured residents that efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the operation.
