The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has sentenced a man, Rasheed Wasiu, to life imprisonment for raping his neighbour’s 11-year-old daughter (name withheld). The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said no fewer than 10 passengers were killed in a crash involving a DAF trailer on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway. FRSC spokesman Jonas Agwu said in a statement on Tuesday that the Monday crash resulted from excessive speed, overloading and fatigue. According to him, the driver lost control of the wheels and crashed into a ditch at about 10:30hrs with all the 172 male passengers aboard the trailer. The Ibadan Division of the Federal High Court on Tuesday sentenced a 24-year-old hemp farmer, Monday Ode, to six years in prison for cultivating 51kg of the illicit substance.
