The police command in Adamawa State has arrested 58 suspected criminals after a raid in different locations of the state. The state Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris said this when he addressed journalists in Yola on Tuesday. Mr Morris said that the suspects included 40 young men who were believed to be members of a notorious group ‘Shila boys.’ He said, “Eleven of them were arrested for kidnapping, while seven were arrested for armed robbery. A 34-year old woman, Esther Emeh, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Lugbe Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly cheating a company of N150,000. Ms Emeh, who resides at Karmajiji, Abuja, is being charged with breach of trust and cheating. The Prosecutor, Emeka Ezeganya told the court that the matter was reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Wuse, zone 3 by Arena Johnson of Mombolo street, Wuse. An Ota Magistrates’ Court, Ogun State, on Tuesday sentenced two women, Omowunmi Adeyemi, 42, and Toyin Olumide, 30, to nine months in prison each for assaulting a woman, Monsurat Ogboye. The Magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, found the duo guilty of all the three counts of conspiracy, assault and wilful damage brought against them by the police. Mrs Fadairo held that the prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Adaraloye, proved the case beyond reasonable doubt. She, however, gave each of the convicts an option to pay N60,000 fine. The Nigerian Police on Monday arraigned seven men at Akure Magistrates’ Court over alleged possession of firearms and other dangerous weapons. Ondo State Ministry of environment has inaugurated a seven-member Special Committee to retrieve equipments used for waste management in the state. The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Oyeniyi Oseni, said the purpose of the committee is to recover the ministry equipments which includes, tractors, trucks, excavators and other equipments for taking diets from the environment. The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) says it will investigate the alleged unauthorised access to the personal data of enrollees by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
