Seven people lost their lives while another 11 suffered varying degrees of injuries in a crash which occurred on Monday night at about 9:33pm around the Ogere area of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The accident involved a Mazda bus with registration number MNY894 and a truck with no number plate. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it has rescued a 63-year-old kidnapped victim and former worker with the Shell Petroleum Development Company (name withheld) in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of the state. A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo has struck out the certificate forgery case against the Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Benson Konbowei. Konbowei was arraigned before the court on March 26 on three counts. In the charge marked: CR/028/2023, the Inspector General of Police accused Konbowei of fraudulently forging a document titled ‘Certificate of Exemption’ with number 000256454 and dated July 4, 2008, among others. The Lagos State Ministry of Health has reported 29 deaths and 579 cases since the cholera outbreak began two weeks ago. Speaking on Monday during an ongoing press briefing, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, explained that the death rate was due to patients being presented late at the hospital or brought in dead. A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday, discharged and acquitted a former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, over alleged N338.8m money laundering. Ikuforiji was discharged alongside his former Personal Assistant, Oyebode Atoyebi.
