The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke has said that the union may resume accademic session on Tuesday, July 5 if the Federal Government meet its conditions. The Federal Government has announced that it is making efforts to facilitate the placement of Nigerian students who fled war-torn Ukraine into tertiary institutions in the country to enable them continue their education. This is contained in a statement published Monday on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State has been burnt down by unknown arsonists. The office, situated at the council’s headquarters in Ogurute was set on fire late Sunday night and the affected building was totally burnt. The Ondo State Police Command announced on Sunday that all the children who were allegedly kept in an underground apartment of a church, the Whole Bible Deliverance Church, in the Valentino Area of Ondo Town, Ondo State, had been released to their respective parents. More than 77 kids had abandoned their homes and some had disowned their parents for church, claiming their parents were not teaching them the way of God. The Independent National Electoral Commission has received 5,305 Bimodal Voters Accreditation System for the July 16 governorship election in Osun State and its configuration concluded, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Abdulganiyu Raji, has said. Two Catholic priests, Rev. Father Udo of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Uromi, and Rev. Father Philemon Oboh of St. Joseph Retreat Centre, Ugboha in Edo State, were reportedly kidnapped on Saturday night. They were abducted along the Benin-Auchi Road on their way back to Uromi in Esan South-East Local Government Area of the state. Ahead the July 16 Osun State governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Saturday said it is monitoring security situation ahead of the election. The commission also said it will prosecute those arrested for vote buying during the just concluded Ekiti State governorship election.
