The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has brought the former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha before the Federal High Court in Abuja for his planned arraignment on a 17-count money laundering charge. It will be recalled that operatives of the anti-graft agency had last Tuesday, May 24, arrested Okorocha at his Abuja residence, in an operation that lasted over seven hours. The arrest followed alleged refusal by the former governor to make himself available for trial. EFCC accused him of deliberately evading service of the charge on him. Nigeria has recorded 21 confirmed cases of the Monkeypox disease in the last five months with one death according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The NCDC further disclosed that in the month of May, only six new confirmed positive cases were reported from four States with Bayelsa (2), Adamawa (2), Lagos (1) and Rivers (1). The scope of the ongoing probe of the suspended Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reached N170billion. Idris, who was battling for bail last night, has opened up on some top government officials allegedly involved in some transactions. The National Examinations Council on Sunday announced that it has “extended the Registration period of the 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination for school-based candidates to midnight of Monday 20th June 2022”. AKURE—AN Ondo High Court, weekend, dismissed the case instituted by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, challenging the installation of Oba Olugbemiga Ojo as the Iralepo of Isinkan as the recognised chieftaincy by the Ondo State government. Oba Aladetoyinbo, in an originating summons, claimed that the government of Ondo State had no powers to recognise the Iralepo.
