President Muhammadu Buhari has departed for London to attend a conference that he should have joined via the Internet. The presidency announced on Monday that Mr Buhari will be in London to attend the Global Education Summit. Although the presidency admitted Mr Buhari will be embarking on medical vacation after the conference, the Nigerian leader will be heading to the UK from July 26, two days before the programme was scheduled to kick off on July 28. The cost of filling a 12.5kg cylinder of cooking gas has increased from N4,000 in December 2020 to N6,200 as at July 24, 2021. This is about a 55% increase in the price. The abducted students of Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi, Kaduna have been released after 20 days in captivity. Joseph Hayab, Kaduna state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), confirmed their release  on Sunday. A total of 121 students were abducted from their hostels by bandits on July 5. The federal government has extended the national identification number (NIN) and subscriber identity module (SIM) integration exercise till October 31. In a statement signed by Ikechukwu Adinde, director of public affairs at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the decision to further extend the deadline was made based on the need to “accommodate registration in hard-to-reach remote areas, foreigners and diplomatic missions, and Nigerians in the diaspora”. A new World Bank report has indicated that the unemployment rate in Nigeria has risen more than ever in the history of the country under the Buhari led administration. For a nation, unemployment rate is defined as the percentage of the labour force population who could not find at least 20 hours of work in the reference period.
