The institutions had asked students to pay the fee tagged ‘upgrade of COVID-19 facilities’. At the Delta State University, Abraka, returning undergraduate and diploma students for the 2019/2020 academic session are to compulsorily pay N5,000 each while postgraduate students are to pay N10,000 each. The 2021 budget presentation by President Muhammadu Buhari as been condemned by many Nigerians after over N128 billion was earmarked for the National Assembly. Buhari on Thursday presented a record 13 trillion-naira budget for 2021 to members of the National Assembly. The spending plan is about 21% rise from the revised 2020 spending plan of 10.8 trillion naira. Eight persons have been confirmed dead following a gas plant explosion that occurred in the Ipaja area of Lagos on Thursday. According to a statement by the Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the incident occurred around 6:00 am, destroying several properties. While further assessment of the area is still ongoing, a tweet by the emergency response agency, disclosed that an initial disaster assessment revealed that eight fatalities have been identified. 25 houses (mostly bungalows), 16 lock-up shops and a Primary School were also affected by the fire. ADAMAWA North lawmaker, Senator Elisha Abbo, has appealed the judgment delivered by a Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, ordering him to pay N50m as compensation to Osimibibra Warmate. Abbo was caught on video assaulting Warmate at a sex toy shop in Wuse 2, Abuja in 2019.
