Bandits have killed the eldest son of a judge of the Kaduna State Customary Court, identified as Janet Galadima, while demanding N300m ransom to free the judge and her three other children still being held. The management of the University of Benin on Thursday halted academic activities indefinitely and ordered the students to vacate their hotels immediately. This was contained in a statement by the institution’s Public Relations officer, Benedicta Ehanire, on Thursday. Police have arrested eighteen persons suspected to be in connection with the violent protest that rocked the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State on Wednesday. The suspects were said to have abducted a resident in the Gwagwa area of the FCT on June 12, 2024. The kidnappers were said to have collected N12m from the victim’s family and killed two others. The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, on Wednesday, said that the operatives of the command in a gun duel killed two kidnappers who were among the hoodlums that abducted four travellers along Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway on Sunday night.
