An Anglican reverend was murdered by his son in the agrarian community of Okpare in Olomu Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, on Wednesday. PUNCH Online gathered that the priest, identified as Rev. The flood rendered the road almost impassable causing gridlock and discomfort for commuters. Three persons from the Agagbe Internally Displaced Persons camp have been killed by suspected armed herders while returning from their farms. In order to feed their families in camps across the state, male adults were said to have taken to farming. The victims met their end on Monday evening while returning from the farm. On Wednesday, students of the University of Benin took to the streets, blocking the ever-busy Benin-Ore highway to protest weeks of power outage on the campus. The students, who had only two weeks until their first semester examinations, said the situation severely affected their preparation. The university was thrown into a blackout following the inability to reach an agreement with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) over a contentious electricity bill. A Grade A Customary Court at Mapo in Ibadan, Oyo State, has sentenced one Abdulsamad Bakare to one and a half years in prison for reckless driving and disregard for traffic laws. Ibrahim Lawan, director of Primary Health Care in Nangere local government of Yobe, is suspended for diverting Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) and has confessed to committing theft. The Yobe PHC board suspended Mr Lawal for “diverting and misusing” food supplements. Adamu Abba, the board’s spokesman, who announced the suspension on Wednesday in Damatutu, said that a five-member committee had been set up to investigate the matter.
