The Mapo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday sentenced Opeyemi Adeshina to three years’s imprisonment with hard labour for stealing five cell phones from worshippers. Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have arrested twenty-three (23) suspected internet fraudsters in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The suspects were arrested in the early hours of Thursday, May 2, 2024 following actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet related activities. Items recovered from them include one laptop and mobile phones. The suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
The Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday remanded a 46-year-old man, Ifeanyi Fred, for defiling a 15-year-old girl. The court, however, granted bail to the other two women for allegedly procuring an abortion for the victim. The defendants include a trader, Fred, 46, and the victim’s aunt, 36-year-old Gift Odini, a food vendor. An auxiliary nurse, Shabi Oluwaseyifunmi, 40, is among the defendants.
