Four men appeared before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday for allegedly stealing an electric transformer cable worth N2.5 million. The defendants are charged with conspiracy and stealing, but they pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Insp Oladejo Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences in March and April near Police Mobile Gate, Eleyele, Ibadan. Mr Balogun alleged that the defendants conspired to steal the armoured cable from a transformer belonging to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC). Anambra State Government has revealed on Thursday that a 75-year-old barber named Nwankwo Nweke was apprehended by the police for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in Awka.
