An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court has sentenced a 25-year-old man, Balogun Mujaid, to a combined jail term of seven and half years for stealing and other offences. PUNCH Metro learnt on Thursday that the convict was sentenced by a Chief Magistrate Court to three years imprisonment with hard labour for stealing an Itel A50 phone valued at N98,000 while on community service in the court. A fire outbreak occurred at a filling station in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital, on Thursday evening. The incident happened at about 8pm at Shakkotu along Kiyawa Road, Dutse. According to eyewitnesses, the fire erupted when a fuel tanker exploded while offloading fuel at the station. They described the scene as chaotic, with people running for their lives. A former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, has been granted bail in the sum of ₦10 million with one surety in like sum.
