The Chief Provost of Nigerian Immigration Service, Imo State Command, Okiemute Mrere, has been assassinated. Mrere was murdered on Saturday night on Owerri- Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, our correspondent learnt on Monday. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given two weeks’ extension to candidates genuinely unable to complete their registration for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The deadline for registration was May 29, 2021. At least 200 students of an Islamiyya school located at Tegina in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State have been abducted. One person was shot dead while another lays critically injured after gunmen carried out the kidnap operation at about 4:30pm on Sunday. A resident of the area Zayyad Mohammed confirmed the incident to Channels Television via telephone. Ex-political Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, has been shot dead in Owerri. The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was shot by gunmen in Imo State, the capital. Fourteen of the remaining 17 abducted students of the Greenfield University, Kaduna have been released after 40 days in captivity. Three of them are still being held in captivity.
