The Federal and Lagos State governments have said 795 houses might be demolished to pave the way for the construction of the proposed 37-kilometre Fourth Mainland Bridge. The two authorities said a lot of efforts had been made to reduce the number of affected structures from about 9,000 to less than 800. This was even as the state government assured that owners of the affected property would be adequately compensated, despite the prevailing economy circumstances. The House of Representatives has begun moves to stop the country from signing what it called obnoxious loan agreements. The House noted that such pacts tend to enslave the country or compel the country to forfeit its sovereignty, as contained in some loan agreements. It said such pacts must be in line with democratic principles, as contained in the 1999 Constitution, as amended. The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) yesterday put its overall 2020 performance from January to October at N4.122 trillion. It said this is in spite of Covid-19 challenges, financial Act 2019 incentives and palliatives concessions. FIRS added that its non-oil revenue collection performance in the same period stood at N2.8 trillion and oil revenue collection performance stood at N1.3 trillion.
