Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, has denied accusing members of the National Assembly of collecting 60 per cent of contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission. The Senate on Thursday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei-led Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) over alleged financial recklessness. The Senate also recommended that the NDDC should be returned to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) for proper supervision. House of Representatives has resolved to institute a legal suit against Godswill Akpabio , the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, following the expiration of a 48-hour ultimatum. On Tuesday, the House issued an ultimatum to the minister to publish the names of lawmakers whom he claimed had received contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Akpabio made the disclosure while answering questions at the probe session of the NDDC by the House of Representatives committee last week. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the establishment of a N75 billion Nigeria Youth Investment Fund. According to the Minister of Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare, who briefed State House correspondents after the virtual meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, said the “youth bank” is created to support youth enterprise among Nigeria’s 68 million youth between ages of 18 and 35.
