The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, on Tuesday denied the allegations levelled against him by a former Secretary to the State Government, Mr Sunday Abegunde. The former SSG, after resigning from the government on Monday, said on a radio station in Akure that Akeredolu did not truly win the governorship election in 2016. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has kicked against the continued closure of churches in parts of Nigeria despite the relaxation of the lockdown.  Samson Ayokunle, CAN president, said via a statement on Tuesday the continued closure of places of worship is “no longer acceptable and reasonably justified”. A combined team of riot policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) are currently searching the residence of Ibrahim Magu, the suspended boss of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Ifedayo Abegunde who resigned from the Akeredolu’s led cabinet on Monday, for participating in electoral fraud. The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Monday lamented the increasing rate of COVID-19 cases among people in government, saying it was directly impacting on governance and security in the country.
