The Senate on Tuesday asked the Federal Government to rename the Ibadan Airport after the late former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi. This was sequel to the adoption of a motion by Senator Abdulfatahi Buhari and seconded by Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Senator Buhari had eulogised the late Ajimobi, who was a member of the 5th Senate from 2003 to 2007. The red chamber thereafter observed a minute silence in honour of Ajimobi. The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed 10 senior police officers and demoted eight others over cases of misconduct. The Head of Press and Public Relations of PSC, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja. Ani said the decision for the dismissal of the police officers was reached during the three-week deliberations at the 8th plenary of the commission that ended on July 1. The House of Representatives’ Committee on Finance on Monday approved the 2020 budget proposal for Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) with the projected revenue accruing to the Federation estimated at N6.06 trillion. The federal government has announced that the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) examination will hold from August 4 to September 5. The Minister of State for Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, made this announcement on Monday at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing in Abuja.
