FUTA Off Campus Security : Ondo CP Assures Improved Security, Promises to Fish out Perpetrators.

In response to recent security concerns surrounding the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) off-campus area, The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Taiwo Jesubiyi on Monday assured the Residents on improved security measures and a determined effort to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the criminal activities.

Over the past few months, there have been reports of increased incidents of robbery, harassment , and other criminal activities within the off-campus vicinity of FUTA, causing anxiety and distress among students and residents alike.

In an exclusive meeting held on Monday with the University Management, Student Union Government Leaders , Community Representatives, Student Representatives and Campus Journalists , Mr Jesubiyi emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of students and residents, particularly in areas surrounding educational institutions. He acknowledged the distress caused by the recent criminal activities and expressed his commitment to curbing these incidents and restoring a sense of security.

The CP revealed that plans are already underway to increase police presence and patrol units within the FUTA off-campus area. Additionally, he stated that strategic collaborations would be established with relevant security agencies and community leaders to enhance intelligence gathering and foster a proactive approach to security.

CP Jesubiyi also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police. He stressed the importance of community participation in maintaining a secure environment, urging students, residents, and stakeholders to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in their efforts to combat crime.

As the police and other security agencies intensify their efforts to safeguard the FUTA off-campus community, residents and students are encouraged to remain alert, take necessary precautions, and cooperate fully with the authorities. By working together, it is believed that a safer and more secure environment can be achieved, ensuring that educational pursuits can be carried out without fear or interruption.

Recall, The Students of FUTA on Monday blocked the Ilesha/Owo/FUTA Expressway in a peaceful demonstration to express their displeasure in Increased cases of Robbery, Theft and Harassment at the off campus area of the University.
