The National Youth Service Corp members across the country have cried out over the tough time they have been facing as a result of their poor allowance during harsh Economic Conditions in the Country.

Speaking with Newsmen, one of the corps members who is serving in Delta State, and prefers to be identified as Saka, expressed discomfort over his inability to save from his monthly allowance despite his hard work.

“The monthly allowance means nothing to me as a corper serving in a remote location,” he explained. Our daily expenses exceed our monthly allocation, which does not satisfy our daily necessities until you offer other options. However, corps members cannot subsist solely on their monthly salary.”

“One of the most significant financial challenges I face here is the inability to obtain necessary foodstuffs from the market due to rising food prices, as well as the inability to save from my monthly allowance.”

“I appeal to the Federal Government to include corpers in the ongoing subsidy removal palliative,” he said.

A corps member serving in Kwara State, who asked to remain nameless for personal reasons, also spoke about how marketers and commercial bike riders preyed on corpers when they were in uniform.

“The main challenge is the inflated price of food and transport, as vendors and bike riders take advantage of us when they see us wearing the Corper’s uniform and double the price for us. Corp Members should be among the first to be eligible for palliative care,” she added
