Ondo 2024: Mimiko emerges ZLP guber Candidate
The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has officially named Abass Mimiko, the younger brother of former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, as its candidate for the upcoming November 16 governorship election in the state.
Mimiko’s candidacy was confirmed during the party’s primary election, which took place at its headquarters in Akure, the state capital.
Expressing his commitment to the welfare of the state, Mimiko, a medical professional turned politician, pledged to give top priority to education, healthcare, economy, and security if elected as the next governor of Ondo State.
“We are forced to be reckoned with in this election. We will ensure food security, within a year of our being in the office, we will have a surplus of food in Ondo State; we will ensure affordable quality education, industrialization, housing, free health services for all residents are part of our programmes,” Mimiko said.
On whether his brother, former Governor Mimiko supported his ambition, as both of them were in different political parties, Abbas informed that his brother had thrown his weight behind him in his quest to become the next governor of the state.
Mimiko said,”Former governor Mimiko said he was not doubt if Abass becomes the governor of the state, everyone will enjoy it. I am coming out because he knows I would build on his achievements,” he declared.
