An Ogun State Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, has granted bail to popular singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable.

The ruling was delivered by Magistrate O.L. Oke, who set the bail at ₦2 million with one surety in the same amount.

Portable is currently facing a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, unlawful possession of weapons such as cutlasses and firearms, and disorderly conduct.

However, he pleaded not guilty to all charges.

According to reports, the case originated from allegations that Portable physically attacked three officials of the Ogun Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).

He reportedly went into hiding following the arrest and arraignment of his associates by the Ogun State Police Command.

Nine individuals linked to the case—Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Fatimo Muhammed (26), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Samuel Adeleke (28)—had earlier been charged with offenses including armed violence, obstruction, assault, attempted murder, and conduct likely to cause a public disturbance.

During the court session, the 31-year-old Zazoo singer appeared emotional, shedding tears as proceedings unfolded. The hearing was briefly halted for 30 minutes as the Ogun State Government officially took over the case from the Commissioner of Police.

Portable’s lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, argued for his bail, emphasizing his right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

She assured the court that her client would adhere to all legal proceedings and would not attempt to evade trial.

Magistrate Oke granted the request but issued a strict warning, cautioning Portable against discussing the case on social media or engaging in any disruptive behavior.

“If you leave this courtroom and post anything about this case on social media, you will lose your bail,” the magistrate warned. “If you cause any trouble or fail to attend court sessions on time, your bail will be revoked.”

The court also inquired about Portable’s mental state, to which he confirmed he was in good health.

The case has been adjourned until March 5 for further hearings.
