We’ll continue to promote religious harmony in Ondo, says Gov Aiyedatiwa

The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has expressed his appreciation to the Muslim community for their unwavering support for him, just as he promised that his administration will continue to promote religious harmony in the State.

The Governor stated this on Friday during the special Jum’at Service held at the Akure Central Mosque as part of activities leading up to his inauguration on Monday.

Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among all religious groups, stating that his administration remains committed to fostering inclusivity in governance.

He reassured the Muslim community of his dedication to policies that promote development, equity, and the overall welfare of the people, irrespective of religious affiliations.

The Governor also took the opportunity to commend the leadership of the Muslim community in Ondo State for their contributions to societal growth and moral guidance. He pledged continued collaboration with religious institutions to ensure that governance remains people-centered and progressive.

Governor Aiyedatiwa further sought their prayers for a successful administration, urging them to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at advancing the State.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Akure, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede, offered prayers for the Governor and his Deputy, emphasizing the importance of good leadership as prescribed in the Qur’an which speaks about Allah appointing leaders based on knowledge and physical strength.

He urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to continue leading with justice, fairness, and a commitment to the welfare of all citizens.

The Chief Imam commended the governor for his numerous infrastructural projects across Ondo State, acknowledging that his administration has taken bold steps in improving road networks.

He particularly appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for the kindness and support extended to the Muslim Welfare Board, describing it as a sign of his inclusive governance and respect for religious institutions.

Akorede called on residents to pray for the governor’s success, stressing that leadership requires divine guidance, patience, and the collective support of the people to achieve meaningful development.

In attendance at the event were the Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Abdulazeez Oluboyo, Ondo State House of Assembly members led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, State Chairman of APC, Engr Ade Adetimehin, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, the Olubaka of Oka Akoko, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip, APC chieftains, Immediate past members of the State Executive Council, Local Government chairmen, Attorney General and Commisoner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo, SAN, Chairman of SUBEB, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, Chief Imam of Ikare, Alhaji Shehu Abass Abubakri, among other dignitaries.
