Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande has urged civil servants to embrace innovative digital solutions for strengthening youth engagement and fostering development across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The Minister made the call at a workshop for civil servants on Digital Transformation, organized by UNESCO for Staff of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

In his address at the Workshop, Olawande emphasized the transformative potential of digital platforms in enhancing the accessibility, reach, and impact of youth and empowerment initiatives.

He highlighted the necessity of integrating modern technology into youth programs to ensure that the younger generation is not left behind in the digital age.

He stated, “In this digital age, we are presented with an incredible array of opportunities to engage, educate, and uplift our younger generation. It is imperative that we evolve and harness these innovative tools to ensure that our youth are not left behind.”

The Minister called on civil servants to prioritize the integration of digital technologies in all initiatives aimed at engaging and empowering the youth. He proposed the establishment of a youth desk in all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), aligning with the President’s advocacy for a proactive approach to youth issues. He emphasized that civil servants are willing to work when engaged and involved, dispelling the common belief of inactivity.

Additionally, Olawande advocated for the expansion of the “Digital for All” program by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, urging that it be made accessible to all civil servants to empower the workforce and enhance the efficiency of public service.

The Minister, thereafter, lauded UNESCO for its outstanding initiative in empowering civil servants through the integration of digital technology and governance in the public sector. He noted that the progressive approach is poised to transform public service operations, improving efficiency and encouraging greater engagement with citizens.

While soliciting collaboration with the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Olawande stated, “Together, we can harness the power of technology to create a brighter future for the youth of today and tomorrow.”
