Court halts enforcement of Wabara’s suspension from PDP

An Abia State High Court, presided over by Justice LTC Eruba, has issued an order restraining the enforcement of the suspension of former Senate President and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara.

In the court order obtained by Sunday PUNCH, Justice Eruba barred the leadership of the Abia State PDP, led by Elder Abraham Amah, from implementing Wabara’s suspension.

Wabara had filed a suit, marked HUK/8/2025, against Amah, seeking legal protection from the enforcement of the suspension. Granting his request, the court ruled that:

“The defendant is restrained from enforcing the suspension of the claimant/applicant from the Peoples Democratic Party, or in any way affecting his position as the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the PDP until the motion on notice is determined.”

A few weeks ago, Amah, a former PDP Vice Chairman (Abia North), announced Wabara’s suspension in Umuahia, accusing him of anti-party activities.

The suspension was reportedly linked to Wabara’s public praise of Governor Alex Otti for his efforts in reconstructing the long-neglected Port Harcourt Road in Aba, a statement he made in October 2023.

However, the PDP National Working Committee swiftly dismissed the suspension, declaring it “null and void.”

The committee stated that the move was a violation of the party’s constitution and had no legal standing.
