Minister for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, earlier today, received in audience, the Director General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote to discuss strategic collaboration aimed at accelerating NIMC’s mandate of enrolling all active Nigerians in the next 180 days.

Engr. Bisoye, while giving her remark, commended the Youth Minister for his dedication and commitment to youth development. She noted that NIMC is willing to collaborate with the Youth Ministry to leverage the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to drive the National Identity Enrolment Exercise at the ward level. She narrated the various values of the National identity including its role in financial inclusion, curbing insecurity, and supporting equitable implementation of government initiatives.

The DG also stated that the exercise will serve as an extra means of livelihood for NYSC Corps members who will also be required to undergo a compulsory onboarding procedure before being enlisted to participate in the exercise.

Olawande, in his response, appreciated the DG and management of NIMC for the visit while reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development to the collaboration. He promised to ensure a swift response and cooperation from the youth ministry, enabling NIMC to meet its 180-day deadline.

To activate the plan, a Joint Working Group was immediately constituted to oversee the implementation of the initiative. The Minister charged the group to plan, track progress, and ensure the successful execution of the collaborative effort.

The collaboration is expected to significantly advance NIMC’s enrolment drive while providing NYSC corps members with valuable skills, extra income, and experience.

Signed.

Director (Information and Public Relations).
