The police has confirmed the discovery of the shallow grave where a missing Lagos State University (LASU) graduate, Adedamola Ogunbode, was buried. This development followed the arrest of the prime suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo.

According to police sources, Ajisomo—previously rumored to have fled to the Benin Republic—was apprehended on Monday in the Alakuko area of Lagos.

He is said to be cooperating with investigators and led detectives to the burial site of the victim.

Confirming the arrest, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the suspect had emptied Ogunbode’s bank account using the victim’s mobile phone. “The principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, was the one who cleared the victim’s bank account,” he said.

Ogunbode, a Political Science Education graduate from LASU, had been missing since January 16, 2025, prompting widespread concern and speculation over his fate. His mutilated body was later reported to have been found.

Last week, police arrested three other suspects linked to the case, including a pastor, Whepetoji Sunday, who allegedly received N70,000 from the victim’s account. A church member, Sheriff Adebayo, was also arrested for receiving N300,000.

Additionally, the suspect’s mother, Omolara Ajisomo, was taken into custody for allegedly assisting her sons—Teniola and Olaoluwa—in fleeing after they reportedly transferred funds from the deceased’s account.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Owohundare Jimoh, has assigned the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), following pressure from student groups threatening a statewide protest.

CSP Hundeyin also dispelled rumors that the grave was located within a church compound, stating that it was situated elsewhere in the community.

He confirmed that the church where the arrested pastor worshipped had been sealed off due to intelligence reports about a possible arson attack in retaliation.

“The shallow grave is not around the church premises.

We sealed the church following reports that people planned to burn it, and we want to prevent any unrest,” Hundeyin explained.

Meanwhile, a police source disclosed that detectives were proceeding to exhume the victim’s remains after the prime suspect confessed to the murder.

When asked for further confirmation, Hundeyin responded briefly: “Confirmed.
