A 14-year-old mechanic has been sentenced to two years in prison by a Jos Magistrates’ Court for burglary and theft.

The ruling was delivered by Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos on Tuesday.

The convict had pleaded guilty to the charges and was given an alternative of paying a N100,000 fine. Additionally, he was ordered to compensate the complainant with N300,000.

Prosecutor Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat informed the court that the case was reported on February 18 at the Nasarawa-Gwom Police Station by the complainant, Nasiru Abdullahi.

According to Gokwat, the convict, along with two accomplices who remain at large, gained entry into the house through a window and stole several items, including a flat-screen TV, a room heater, and 30kg of iron rods. He also stated that N147,000 in cash was taken during the break-in.

The suspect was apprehended with the stolen iron rods and room heater, while his accomplices managed to escape with the television.
