The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 22 suspects during a series of coordinated raids targeting drug hotspots across Kano State.
According to a statement released Friday by the agency’s spokesperson in Kano, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, the operation took place on April 10 and covered locations including the Dan’agundi Construction Site, Gwangwazo Area, Farm Centre along Zaria Road, Tashar Rami, and Filin Idi.
The raids led to the seizure of various illicit substances such as cannabis sativa, “suck and die,” rubber solution, as well as locally made firearms.
The NDLEA said investigations are ongoing to determine which of the suspects are drug dealers.
Those found guilty will face prosecution.
Meanwhile, individuals identified as drug users will be referred to the agency’s Drug Demand Reduction Programme for counseling and rehabilitation.
Muhammad-Maigatari emphasized the agency’s commitment to both enforcement and public health, noting that their strategy includes staying ahead of emerging drug threats through proactive operations and logistics planning.
