…Committee Chairman Describes Gov. Aiyedatiwa as a Visionary Leader Committed to Peace and Justice

The Arbitration Committee tasked with investigating and recommending peaceful solutions to the long-standing boundary dispute between the Isinigbo and Igoba communities in Ondo State held its inaugural meeting on Tuesday.

Chaired by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, OON, the meeting marked the official commencement of the committee’s assignment, which is expected to be concluded within three months.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Ajulo emphasised the importance of peaceful dialogue and cultural sensitivity in addressing the boundary conflict. “It is both an honour and a privilege to stand before you today as we inaugurate this committee. Our mandate is clear: to investigate the causes of this dispute, identify key issues, and ensure an amicable resolution that does not strain relationships between communities involved”. He said.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his confidence in the committee, describing the governor’s intervention as a testament to his commitment to peace, justice, and community development. “I deeply appreciate Governor Aiyedatiwa for the trust reposed in all of us to serve on this committee. His unwavering commitment to peaceful coexistence and his prompt response to the concerns of these communities demonstrate the kind of visionary leadership needed to sustain harmony and development in our state. We are aware that this dispute has lingered for far too long, causing division and discord. It is imperative that we not only address the current issues but also propose lasting solutions.” Dr. Ajulo said.

The committee includes experts from legal, security, and traditional institutions, with a shared commitment to fairness and dialogue. The findings and recommendations of the committee will be submitted to the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olayide Adelami.

The inauguration was attended by committee members and key stakeholders, with expectations high that the initiative will pave the way for a more harmonious future between the Isinigbo and Igoba communities.
