Five people were injured in a road accident on Tuesday evening at the main gate of the Redeemed Christian Church of God headquarters along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
According to Seni Ogunyemi, Commandant General of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the incident involved a Toyota Sienna and a Toyota Highlander.
The Sienna, reportedly speeding, rear-ended the Highlander, causing it to veer off and strike several pedestrians before landing in a drainage.
Ogunyemi confirmed that seven individuals were involved in the crash, with five sustaining serious injuries.
Emergency responders from TRACE, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the police were at the scene.
Three of the injured were taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu, while two others were transported to Famobis Hospital in Lotto.
The vehicles involved included a blue Toyota Sienna (MUS 51 JU), a wine-colored Toyota Highlander (LSD 782 DY), and two Bajaj motorcycles (DED 801 UV and AKM 524 VD).
The accident is under investigation, and the vehicles have been moved to Mowe Police Station.
This incident follows a fatal accident reported on April 5 along the same expressway, where 25 people died and eight were injured in two separate crashes.
One of the accidents involved a Mack truck, a tanker, and a commercial bus, and was also attributed to excessive speed.
