A tragic incident occurred on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Olobe Farm in Igbajo, Osun State, where a farmer, Mr. Abideen Olabiyi, was killed by a swarm of bees.

Two others, Mr. Solomon Kingsley and Chief Olusegun Alalade, sustained serious injuries.

All three men, residents of Alalade Compound in Ada, had gone to the farm when they were suddenly attacked by the bees.

The Otan Ayegbaju Police Division confirmed the incident on Saturday.

According to the police, the deceased’s body has been taken to Healthy Paradise Mortuary in Ikirun for an autopsy, while the injured victims were rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

The police report stated: “At about 4:45 p.m. on Friday, April 18, a report was received from Babasanjo Alalade of Alalade Compound.

He said his relatives — Abideen Olabiyi, Solomon Kingsley, and Chief Olusegun Alalade — were attacked by bees while working on the farm. Sadly, Mr. Olabiyi did not survive.”

Police officers have visited the scene and launched an investigation into the incident.
