Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The switch was announced after a private meeting held Wednesday evening at the Government House in Asaba.

Confirming the move, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, stated that the decision came after extensive consultations with political stakeholders.

According to him, the step was taken with Delta State’s long-term development in mind.

Oborevwori, who won the 2023 gubernatorial election on the PDP platform, was welcomed into the APC by senior party officials.

Political observers see the defection as a significant shift that could shape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
