EFCC denies food access to VeryDarkMan, say friends

Friends of Nigerian social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), have claimed that officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have barred them from providing him with food.

VDM’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, earlier confirmed his arrest by EFCC operatives on Friday, sparking online criticism and speculation regarding the involvement of a certain bank in the incident.

In a video posted online, Koko Pee, a close associate of VDM, said the EFCC declined his attempt to deliver food to the detained influencer.

According to him, the Commission insisted they would handle VDM’s meals internally.

“We are here at the EFCC headquarters, trying to take food and see VDM.

The body that took the beating needs to eat,” Koko Pee said in the clip.

Shortly after, he posted another update saying, “There is a standing order for no one to see him or give him food until Monday.”

Attempts to reach EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale were unsuccessful as calls to the contact numbers on the Commission’s social media accounts went unanswered at the time of this report.
