Anambra State Police have begun an investigation into the death of a pregnant woman whose body was found hanging from a cashew tree along the Ike-Ideani road in the Idemili North Local Government Area.
The discovery, made by residents of the Ideani Community, shocked locals as the body was found in a remote area.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has called on community leaders and stakeholders to provide any information that could help clarify the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
He condemned the incident as a tragic example of inhumanity and ordered a thorough investigation to identify those responsible. The CP also appealed to the public to help identify the deceased so that her family could be notified and recover the body.
The woman’s body has been recovered by officers from the Ogidi Police Division and deposited in the mortuary for further examination.
