JAMB investigates alleged technical glitches in 2025 UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has launched an investigation into the alleged technical glitches reported during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), following widespread complaints regarding poor performance.
A statement released on Monday by JAMB’s public communication advisor, Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the investigation.
The board is working closely with vice-chancellors and IT professionals to identify the root cause of the issues and to ensure that candidates who were affected by any potential errors receive appropriate remedies.
In addition to the investigation, JAMB is fast-tracking its annual system review, which typically takes place months after the examination.
This review will focus on three key stages of the process: registration, examination, and post-examination results.
Benjamin stated that the board is particularly concerned about the unusual complaints coming from certain states and is thoroughly examining the issues to identify and address any technical faults.
“To assist in this process, we have engaged a number of experts, including members of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, chief external examiners, heads of tertiary institutions, the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, and measurement specialists,” he said.
If the investigation confirms the presence of glitches, Benjamin assured that JAMB would implement the necessary remedial measures promptly, as it does with all its examination processes.
