Residents of Tashar Kaɗanya in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State are under threat after bandits demanded a ₦60 million levy from the community, warning of a potential attack if the sum is not paid.
The threat was disclosed on Monday by security analyst @DanKatsina50 via his X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to him, the bandits set a deadline for payment, triggering panic and forcing many residents to flee the area.
Authorities have yet to comment officially on the situation.
This incident has heightened fears over continued insecurity in Katsina State, where banditry, including kidnappings for ransom, remains a serious challenge—especially in areas like Kankara, which has faced repeated attacks.
The latest demand raises concerns about the deepening security and humanitarian crisis in the region.
